Top 10 books in the Popular Reading Collection, 2009-2010

Thanks to all the students, faculty, and staff that have made the first year of the Popular Reading Collection such a success! We started the collection at the beginning of the 2009-2010 academic year, and it has been more popular (ha ha) than we expected.

I am often asked what books in the Popular Reading Collection are checked out the most. Here are the top 10 for 2009-2010. Which ones have you read?

Welcome to the LMU Class of 2014 and to our new faculty and staff! We are glad to have you join us. And welcome back to our returning students, faculty, staff, and university affiliates.

Before the fall semester gets too busy, please come by the 2nd floor of the William H. Hannon Library and visit the Popular Reading Collection in the Rose Hills Reading Room. It's the bookshelves in the middle of the library near the main stairs, next to the fireplace. We have comfy chairs where you can browse the collection at your leisure.

The Popular Reading Collection is all about books for fun! Here, you can find 600 of the latest bestsellers in contemporary fiction and non-fiction. These books are available for three week checkout, with a two week renewal allowed.

You can limit your search to just the Popular Reading Collection from our library catalog, and subscribe to this blog's feed to find out about new titles as soon as they are placed on the shelf.

Most of the books in this collection are only the library for a few months, unlike other books in the collection, which we keep for many years and sometimes decades. So if you see something you like, check it out today! There are self-check machines right next to the collection, or you can check out the books at any of our main public service desks.

About the PRC

The Popular Reading Collection (PRC) is a feature of the William H. Hannon Library at Loyola Marymount University. You can find it in the Rose Hills Reading Room, near the fireplace on Level 2.

The PRC has recent bestsellers in fiction and non-fiction. These books aren't necessarily as "academic" as the rest of the library books and you can find books here to help you take a break from your studies.

LMU community members with borrowing privileges can check out these books for three weeks at a time, with a renewal of two additional weeks.
