From May 2 through 10, we're turning the library's front lobby into a Maker Space; a public place where you can take a break and recharge your creative battery before diving back into the books.
We have a button machine, origami, puzzles, and a few other surprises in store. We hope you enjoy it, and the only thing we ask is that you follow a few very simple rules, which will ensure that everyone gets a chance to play!
- Only take what you need at the moment. All of the supplies are intended to last through the end of finals. Making a small handful of pins is okay. Making pins for everyone attending your extended family reunion is not.
- Clean up after yourself. Please leave the table(s) in the state that you'd hope to find it.
- Please don't steal our stuff! Take the things you need to make your crafts, but please leave the puzzles, scissors, and other supplies so that others may use them too. (Remember the llama? Not cool.)
And finally, we'd love to see your creations! Share them with us via Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. (You can find us @lmulibrary... tag #lmulibrary #makerspace)
If you have any ideas about how we can improve or build upon this idea in the future, we'd love to hear it. Good luck on finals, Lions!
*Note: a previous version of this post listed May 1 as the start date. Maker Space will be set up on May 2.
